Without understanding the relationship between data how can we directly apply linear regression?

It’s highly possible that the data could be non linear and if you identify that then it would be easier to save the efforts trying to get the desired result via LR . In such cases may be we can go ahead with Polynomial or other regressions.

I really feel understanding the relationship between features/ features and target is of utmost importance.
